Bonus: Ellie Explains it All (It’s a recap!)

Hi everyone! It’s Ellie! Your favorite character. So, um, even though for like us in the story it's only been, like, a minute, for all of you who are listening to the story it’s been like, literally years. So I thought I would remind you of everything that just happened so you can jump right into the new season.

And yeah, I’m breaking the fourth wall. It’s all good, it’s a recap. Gosh. Okay. 

So a few weeks ago I get this super cool new roommate named Jenna. She’s an electromancer, like me, and she’s crazy powerful, but she claims she just developed her powers, even though mages usually start showing their powers when they’re, like, 9 or 10, like that’s when I did, and she’s 16. So, like, it's kinda suspicious, but also everyone’s like “oh yay, a powerful mage, those are super rare, lets train her!” And like, I guess they are super rare but, like- it’s a lot, you know? Also it doesn’t help that she’s from Ardova, which is this little country in the North that’s been at war with the Empire for centuries, and Oswer, like, just conquered them like 20 years ago.

But, anyway. As soon as Jenna gets here, this girl, Brynn Tessek, who is the absolute worst but also, like, a really good illusionist I guess, challenges Jenna to a duel because she doesn’t like how much attention Jenna’s getting just for being, like, super powerful. But, we all help out Jenna and Jenna kicks her ass. And then professor Sumner, who’s like, my favorite professor, and kinda like, everyone's favorite professor cause he’s like, a little bit of a hottie, is like, “Brynn, what are you doing, you suck at being a revolutionary” and then he’s all like “I am very suspicious” but, okay, to be clear I don’t actually know about any of this, I only know about this, like through the powers of the recap.  Like, canonically I don’t know all of this information that I am saying right now, I just want to be super clear about that. Like, this is not canon, I am not actually telling anyone any of this. Ok. Back to the recap.

So, Brynn has this friend Devon who’s, like, fine, and he’s an ice mage but he’s also secretly a telepath and he could get in a lot of trouble if anyone found out about it, but right now only Brynn and Pem know. Pem’s my other roommate, and therefore, my other bestie, they’re really really smart but also kind of awkward around people and so, like, I gotta help em out, you know? Um. But anyways. They’re fine, they’re cool, and now that that’s out of the way, back to the story.

Brynn gets really mad at Jenna for beating her in the duel even though she was the one who challenged her to the duel, so she starts pranking her, and then we pranked Brynn back, and it keeps escalating until Brynn ruins Jenna’s orchestra addition which Jenna is still super pissed about because, like, Jenna doesn’t really have hobbies because she’s been super busy with this whole like - hmmm, it’s not really like being a chosen one but being, like, you know, this like super powerful mage and getting, like a lot of attention for it, and so like, I think it's really important for her to have that outlet and Brynn kind of ruined it, you know?

Anyway. Meanwhile, totally unrelated, this creature appears in the library, kills a student, and disappears into the tunnels under the school. So this super creepy woman from the magecorps comes to kill it, and she and Bruce and Katya - they're teachers- go to fight the creature, but meanwhile Professor Sumner has taken Brynn and Devon into the tunnels to banish the creature, and a whole bunch of cocky seniors decide that they should be the ones to kill it, and I tag along cause I’m tired of feeling useless and I kind of have, like, an inferiority complex about how many stripes I have - Uh I didn’t really talk about the stripe system but it's basically like how strong you are as a mage and I’m like not that strong, but anyways Jenna goes after me because we just had a fight and she’s worried about me, because we’re besties now, and a bunch of stuff happens but eventually we all end up underground fighting this thing and Brynn manages to banish it back to, like, another dimension, which, like, I still don’t like Brynn but that was honestly pretty badass and I guess I respect her for it. 

But, because we were all out past curfew, we all get detention, which I think is pretty bullshit. You know, we basically saved the school. But I guess it wasn’t allowed, and we should have left it to the adults so, whatever. Devon and I had to move some books for, like, our detention, and I find out that he has a little crush on this senior, Lucas, who’s kind of been helping Jenna, and like, has a thing for Jenna, and that’s fine. But! While that’s happening Jenna and Brynn are cleaning up the library together when Brynn finds out Jenna has this secret umbramancy necklace, but before she can figure out what to do about it this portal opens up and sucks them both in. Oh, and the librarian too. And that’s it. That’s the season.

I don’t know about you, but I am, like, super excited to find out what happens next. The good news is, we only have to wait, like, one week.
